There are certain types of maintenance that users can do themselves when using a motorbike. This will reduce the hassle of going to the repair shop, save time and increase your knowledge of your motorbike.

 

 

Spark plug maintenance

Spark plugs are a key component of a motorbike engine. The proper combustion of the gas mixture is the key to the proper functioning of the engine. First of all, the type of spark plug used in each engine is different, mainly in terms of calorific value, thread size and so on, so be sure to use the specified type of spark plug. If the engine burns normally, unscrew the spark plug and observe that the electrode should be ochre red, if it is black, i.e. there is carbon, it means that the mixture is too rich and the combustion is not sufficient, so the carbon should be cleaned up. Use a sharp awl to clean the carbon in the central electrode groove and L pole; adjust the spark plug gap: GS125 (0.6-0.9mm), QS150T (0.7-0.8mm), carbon accumulation on the spark plug will prevent good spark and may lead to flame failure; if you find that the spark plug is easily wet or burnt grey, it means that the spark plug thermal value is not matched, then you should go to the designated repair shop of Lightcycle Suzuki to replace the compatible Spark Plug Notes:

 

1. Determine the thread size and length of the plug rod. If the plug rod is too short, it will cause carbon build-up in the threaded part of the plug hole and damage the engine.

2、Before applying the spark plug spanner, carefully screw the spark plug into the threaded part of the cylinder head by hand to prevent damage.

3、Tighten the spark plug to the specified tightening torque using the special spark plug socket that comes with the car.

 

Air filter maintenance

The air filter is the breathing system of the motorbike. If the air filter is blocked by dust, the air intake resistance will become larger, which will reduce the engine's power output, increase fuel consumption and make it more difficult to start the engine, making it easier to stall. Cleaning the air filter should be carried out in the following steps:

Remove the air filter element from the car

If the cartridge is a sponge foam, it can be cleaned carefully with neutral detergent, do not wring it hard, dry the water after cleaning, drop 2-3 drops of oil (in order to adsorb the tiny dust in the air), hold it well by hand and put it back in the original shape; if it is a paper cartridge, do not clean it with liquid, knock the internal dust hard, and blow it in the opposite direction with compressed gas if possible (never reverse it, otherwise the dust will be blown into the pores of the paper core and the blockage will be more serious); example: QS150T paper core is blown from the inside to the outside, Prince Storm is blown from the outer ring to the middle hole.

 

Pay attention to the installation direction and air intake direction when putting back the filter element;

When driving in a dusty and dirty environment, the frequency of cleaning should be increased. If you find that the sponge is broken or the paper filter element is wet, you should replace the new one immediately, otherwise the engine will be damaged or black smoke will be emitted.

 

Oil filter maintenance

Most users know that the oil should be changed on time, but there is a principle to be grasped:

It is the replacement of new engine oil, the filter element is not replaced is not possible. In the process of lubrication, the engine oil pump sucks the oil out of the bottom groove and first presses it into the oil filter element to filter it, and then transports the clean oil to the cylinder head, crankshaft and transmission parts. If the filter element is too dirty, the filtering effect of the oil is poor, the amount of oil output is reduced, and the parts are not well lubricated, which will cause excessive wear, so only changing the oil is not possible, but the oil filter element must be replaced at the same time.
